The River that Flows Out

At The Stirring there are two components that drive the 'what' and the 'why' do we bother.

Our Mission: Love Reformation

What do we mean by reformation?

"To improve (a law or institution) by correcting abuses" Farlex dictionary

Revival always starts with the poor. It starts at the grass roots level, and it burns its way up. However culture is shaped from the top down. So if what starts at the bottom does not impact those at the top, there will never be a reformation.

Keep it simple. We build a friendship with Heaven, take a look around, what we discover we then serve people with on Earth. Heaven is characterized by extravagant love, so our mandate is to make it tangible in our City.

When reformation is actualized, it brings transformation.

Our Vision: We are a family encountering God and empowering people to stir our world through love.

The Culture we are building is characterized by the presence of God, Worship, Love, Family and Honour. We believe these are the incubators to what we will create with God.

Culture is shaped by the way that people think. This is why Kingdom culture is foundational to the way we do life, not just in our church family but also in our everyday 'world'. The way we think about the circumstances that play themselves out in front of us every single day, these must be anchored in Heavens culture. The goal of what we are doing is to bring heaven to people now, and it begins with the renewing of the mind. For everyday kingdom living to be sustainable, it needs a greenhouse to grow. We like to think of The Stirring as a laboratory, not to be confused with lavatory, however similar the outcomes may be. It's a good idea to have both a manufacturing department and a research and development department. We were born to be a people of discovery! We were asked to disciple Nations...  It is transformed people, that transform the world around them.

The structure of our vision is vital to the outcome.  We don't just huddle, we play the game!

Our structure: Train and Equip with Deployment in mind.

Church is supposed to be a safe place, but if you get trained in the Zoo, when you reach the Jungle, all of it will be completely irrelevant. Biblical faith has practical application!

In the Kingdom, you only get keep what you give away. So all the encountering God, must find a practical application in your everyday life. Which is why we believe that every believer is in full time ministry and your world is your pulpit. There is no such thing as 'lay people' in the body of Christ, once you are in you're part of the royal priesthood. It is the Saints who perform the work of service.

Ezekiel 47 illustrates how we function.

The River From the Temple

47 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water, flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, for the front of the temple faced east; the water was flowing from under the right side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He brought me out by way of the north gate, and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side.

3 And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles. 4 Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist. 5 Again he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed. 6 He said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?” Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river.

7 When I returned, there, along the bank of the river, were very many trees on one side and the other. 8 Then he said to me: “This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed. 9 And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes. 10 It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many. 11 But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt. 12 Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.”

We believe that God's presence (river) wants to leave the sanctuary in every direction. The further away from the sanctuary, the deeper the river. The most spectacular works of God are going to happen the farther you get from the sanctuary. The greatest miracles are destined to take place in the darkest places. Every living thing that moves wherever the river goes will live! Movement is life.

Everything that the river touches receives supernatural benefit.

Jesus said that belief in Him will cause rivers of living water to flow from the heart (John 7:38). And you have become the temple of God. The fullness of God lives inside you! Wherever you go, the river goes with you. God is going to water the root system of society, and He wants to use you to do it.

When a river has only an inlet and no outlet, it has no movement (swamps and marshes). Sometimes all it needs to start moving again, is a little stir.
